Audacy talk “98.9 WORD” WYRD-FM Greenville, SC is adding two new voices to its weekday lineup effective Monday (May 6), bringing the nationally syndicated “The Mike Gallagher Show” to middays, and introducing the new “Sunrise Carolina” hosted by local radio veteran Joey Hudson preceding morning drive’s “The Tara Show.”

As a result of these additions, “Straight Talk with Bill Frady” moves to noon. The new lineup on the station known as “The Voice of the Carolinas” is as follows: “Sunrise Carolina with Joey Hudson” 5-6am, “The Tara Show” 6-10am, “The Mike Gallagher Show” 10am-noon, “Straight Talk with Bill Frady” noon-3pm, and “The Charlie James Show” 3-7pm (all times Eastern U.S.).

Gallagher, known as “The Happy Conservative Warrior,” began his radio career in Greenville in 1989, and hosted mornings on WABC New York prior to “The Mike Gallagher Show.” As founder of “Gallagher’s Heroes: Fallen Officers Fund,” he received the New York City Sergeants Benevolent Association “Heroism Award” in April 2015.

“I am thrilled to have Mike return to WORD,” Audacy Greenville-Spartanburg Senior VP and Market Manager Steve Sinicropi said. “Mike is part of the fabric of Greenville; he connects with our audience and will be a terrific advocate for our advertisers.”

Gallagher adds, “To return to the same station where I started my radio career 35 years ago is mind-blowing. I’m excited to reconnect with Upstate audiences and advertisers on this powerhouse brand. Everyone knows the Upstate is home to me. So, who says you can’t go home again?”

Hudson, a community service leader and businessman with a decade of experience in local radio, also hosts the daily podcast “Just The Truth.” He will not only host “Sunrise Carolina” weekdays on WORD but also a magazine-style show, “The WORD on the Street,” Saturdays noon-1pm.

“I’m ecstatic to join the team at this heritage station,” Hudson says. “As a lifelong resident of the area, I’m fortunate to continue serving the community I love as part of The Voice of the Carolinas. Thank you to Steve Sinicropi and the 98.9 WORD family for welcoming me back to the airwaves.”

Adds Sinicropi, “Having Mike and Joey onboard will enhance our incredible lineup and offer listeners live, locally connected talent.”
