WXYT

An all-Black lineup will take to the air later this month when Audacy’s 1270 WXYT Detroit transitions to sports talk “Sports Rap Radio.”

According to The Detroit News, the station will be led by Rob Parker, a former host at WDFN, three-time NBA champion B.J. Armstrong, and former college athletes Dave Kenney and Maurice Ways.

The new station’s hosts include Armstrong, who will be on mid-mornings; former Detroit Piston Lindsey Hunter, who helped the Pistons to the NBA title in 2004, on afternoon drive; and J.R. Gamble and Martin Weiss on middays.

WXYT 1270 is currently airing content from Audacy’s The BETQL Network, which focuses on sports betting. There is also overflow programming from 97.1 The Ticket.

Parker is an enduring fixture on the Motor City sports scene. The three-plus decade veteran has been a columnist for the Detroit Free Press and Detroit News, a host of WDFN radio and a TV personality. His plan is to assemble a network of stations in the biggest Black radio markets in the U.S.
